HoldMyCall

Get through to American Express without the hold queue

American Express is open round the clock, which is more than most, but the card-specific numbers and security checks mean a call still takes a while. Disputed charges, statement queries and closed-account surprises are what people ring about.

No spam. You'll hear from us when we open up.

What HoldMyCall does on a American Express call

  1. 1

    Dials and waits

It rings 0800 917 8047, works through the menu and sits in the queue, however long it takes. You get on with your day.

  2. 2

    Has the conversation

It introduces itself as an AI assistant calling on your behalf, gives the details you provided when asked, and pushes politely for the outcome you wanted.

  3. 3

    Reports back

A summary, whether it got what you asked for, any reference numbers, and the full transcript and recording. If they insist on speaking to you, your phone rings and one keypress joins the live call.

Things people ask it to sort with American Express

  • Query a charge after closing

“I closed my account two months ago and have received a statement with a charge on it. Find out what it is, why it was applied, and get it removed.”

  • Dispute a transaction

“There's a transaction on my statement I don't recognise. Raise a dispute and get a reference number.”

  • Chase a missing refund

“A retailer says they refunded me 12 days ago and it hasn't appeared on my card. Find out whether Amex has received it.”

Have these ready

Whether you ring or the assistant does, American Express will want some of these before they will talk about your account.

  • Card number, or the account number from a statement
  • Cardmember's name, date of birth and address
  • Date and amount of any transaction you're asking about

Save them once in Settings and every call starts with them filled in. The assistant only gives a detail when it is asked for it, and it is hard-coded to refuse payments and contract changes.

Let it ring American Express for you.

First 5 calls are free while we're in beta. The assistant never pretends to be human, and every word is yours to keep.
